A is for Azurite. Even though azurite is such a common mineral I picked it anyway because of its general appeal and popularity. Azurite is found in one form or another at nearly every copper mine in the world. Because copper is associated with silver, azurite is also found at many silver mines.
Azurite is not always glamorous. Most of the time azurite is just blue on a rock or in a rock. It comes in varying shades of blue such as bright vivid, almost neon blue to deep mid-night blue. The best crystals are free-standing crystals of dark sapphire blue. Azurite can also come in rosettes and rounded balls (often called blue berries).

Tsumeb, Africa
Mexico
Utah; Sioux-Ajax, Blue Crystal
Arizona; Bisbee, Globe-Miami
Other fun A minerals include aquamarine, apatite, aragonite, ajoite, abernathite, agate, amethyst, adamite, and austinite. This is by no means a comprehensive list of “A” minerals.
