Q is for Quartz

Quartz;
Quartz is the second most abundant mineral in the earth’s crust and the one that has been used the most in jewelry.  The oldest know jewelry contains quartz crystals.

It is used for ceramics, cements, lubricants, watches, and as a source for silicon.  My favorite use is as a gem material.

Some varieties include; Pink Quartz, Rose Quartz, Smoky Quartz, Citrine, Amethyst, Prasiolite, Milky Quartz, Rutilated Quartz, and Tourmaline Quartz.

Then, there are the agates.  They include all the agates with a locality attached to them, such as Botswana, Brazilian, Montana, and so on.  It also includes Carnelian, Tiger’s Eye, Falcon’s Eye, Chrysoprase, and Aventurine to name a few more.
